A First for Long Island: The Ritz-Carlton Residences, North Hills

The “Island,” as many people refer to it, extends some 118 miles eastward from New York Harbor to Montauk Point. Bordered on the north by the Long Island Sound and to the south by the Atlantic Ocean, it includes an amazing diversity of choices with fine restaurants, shops, recreation, culture, etc. Not to mention the close proximity to New York City. Interestingly enough, Long Island is also the largest and most populous island in the contiguous United States. Unlike many islands, it boasts nine bridges and 13 tunnels connecting it to the three other boroughs of New York City, ferries to Connecticut, and two major airports with service to virtually every part of the world, every day.

What it didn’t have was brand new luxury residential homes within 20 miles of Manhattan and 60 miles from The Hamptons. That’s the vision, and it gets even better when you combine impeccable brands like RXR Realty and The Ritz-Carlton to build the first Ritz-Carlton Residences (ever) on Long Island.

RXR Realty is one of the New York tri-state area’s leading real estate companies with a portfolio of 92 operating properties, encompassing 21.2 million square feet, and an additional 10 million square feet in urban redevelopment projects. The company is one of the largest owners, managers, and developers in the area, and through the years has earned a reputation of excellence, establishing a franchise synonymous with high quality real estate and premier services. It is one of the only companies to ever develop more than one Ritz-Carlton Residence.

The groundbreaking ceremony occurred on March 24th, 2014, and Phase One (124 residences) of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Long Island, North Hills came to market in June 2014. A few months later, a brand new 4,500-square-foot sales center was opened on the site. RXR hired Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty as the exclusive sales and marketing team, and the first residents are expected to move in by early 2016.

Long Island has never had anything like this community in spite of being “home” to affluent individuals and families. In addition to amenities within each of the residential buildings, the community will feature a 25,000-square-foot Clubhouse with grand entertaining spaces, a resident lounge and bar, board room, theater-style screening room, game and billiard room, golf simulator, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The entire complex will be heavily landscaped with a park-like setting. Individual residences at the North Hills property will range from 1,500 to over 3,600 square feet, with two- to four-bedroom options. Each residence boasts private balconies or terraces, 10-12 foot ceilings, gourmet kitchens, well-appointed bathrooms, and parking.
